Cycle or Walk the Wight

Biker's Paradise: Secure bike storage available with a network of cycle paths including the nearby 32 mile Red Squirrel Trail covering Cowes, Newport, Shanklin and Sandown with bike hire available from Wight Bike in Merstone, routefifty7 in Shanklin or Isle Cycle in Sandown. The local Lower Niton Road is still closed to traffic, so perfect for a family bike ride or walk under the shade of trees to Ventnor Botanical Gardens!

Local walks: With direct access to South Coast AONB foot and cycle paths you get a privileged starting point to get to the nearby St Catherine’s Oratory or ‘Pepperpot’, as it’s known locally with stunning panoramic islandwide views. With many options to venture much further afield should you wish to expolore. The Isle of Wight Coastal Path and inland routes connect all the way to The Needles from Kingates Farm.

All weather coastal paths: A bonus for dog walking, families with push chairs and wheelchairs, especially on a spring/winter holiday, is the solid coastal paths. From nearby Steep Hill Cove extending all the way past Ventnor, around to Bonchurch and beyond. Also the Sea View to Ryde solid foot path passes some great places to stop for refreshments, with great dog friendly beaches and unique views over the busy Solent across to the mainland!

Explore by bus!: Enjoy an award winning Open Top Bus on a warm day. There are four seasonal routes, two of which are open-top, so you can really catch the refreshing Island air as you Breeze around the Island! You can hop on and off connecting “normal buses” on an all-day ticket!
